A Historic Location
Lil’Mazzara’s is the sister restaurant to Mazzara’s Vinoteca, located in the historic Humphreys-Rogers house, built in 1848 in Huntsville, AL. Named after owner Stephanie Mell’s maternal grandparents, Vito and Mary Mazzaras were authentic Italian cooks hailing from Sicily. With a strong family belief that everything should be scratch-made with only the freshest ingredients, we strive to create a culinary experience that reflects the family’s dedication to quality and flavor.
Don’t let the “Lil” fool you – Our menu is anything but “lil,” and our passion for authentic Italian cuisine is anything but small. The same dishes that made Mazzara’s Vinoteca a household name in Huntsville are the same dishes we are bringing to Athens. The menu highlights classic Italian dishes such as housemade focaccia and pasta, savory Carmela’s meatballs, and a delightful Seafood Cioppino.
Mirroring the same qualities as a giant Italian Family, “The Square” in Downtown Athens couldn’t be a better fit for Lil’Mazzaras. Its charming and vibrant hub showcases the city's unique character and history, which is what drew owners Matt and Stephanie Mell in as a place to expand. Seeing the delightful blend of small-town charm and welcoming locals, one quickly becomes captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere that defines this community.
